Friends Healing Words

In 1998 I was diagnosed with minimal breast cancer. When I told my doctor and his nurse this story, she said "she got goose bumps". One week before I found the small lump an old friend I hadn't heard from for quite sometime called me. We talked for a long time but he never told me he was sick with cancer. A couple days after he called me another friend called and told me about him passing away. I felt so bad because I just didn't know he was sick. He didn't sound sick, he was laughing and carrying on as always.

After I found out about him passing away that night I had a most disturbing dream and Olen was in my dream. We were at work, out in the plant and he was sitting in a chair beside me, I could see he was very sick.

Olen wanted to walk across the big plant to talk to his boss, who was my boss too, but was too weak and couldn't walk by himself. I said "Olen I will help you walk over there and talk to Robert because I know you have cancer and you are weak". With my help he got up and as we were walking across the floor Olen turned and looked at me and said "you might have cancer too". That was the end of my dream.

The next day as I was taking a bath I felt a small lump that didn't seem to move much. I never checked myself like women are supposed to do but I remembered the dream I had the night before so I was kind of checking.

I decided to go to the doctor just in case something was wrong with me. The doctor ordered a mammogram, then they did a sonogram. I knew something was wrong then. From there the doctor told me he thought it could be cancer by the way it appeared on the x-rays, I want to say calcification clumped together.

He performed a lumpectomy on me. The cancer doctor said it was so small he really didn't know how to advise me on what to do next. He said "you could have a little radiation done if you want to". He also said "they really didn't know that much about minimal breast cancer". Of course, they had to check limp nodes so that was another surgery, they checked okay.

If it had not been for my good friend Olen coming to me in my dream, I would have never known of the lump before it was too late because I never checked myself like women are supposed to do.

My doctor said "your friend must have been your angel". This surprised me coming from a doctor for some reason, but then I found out that my doctor always said a prayer before he performed surgery.

This was a miracle to me.
