I have read on here some amazing animal stories, so I will share one of mine. About a year ago, I was over in west oz for my sisters wedding. We were staying in this holiday unit which was up on a hill overlooking the ocean. We only stayed three days and we where the only people staying there probably because it was winter and it was very secluded.
On the first day, the local seagull community realized we were there, and they all came to see if they could get a handout. Nothing new, but on the second day only one came.
I was just starting to walk again, without the aid of crutches due to my motorcycle accident. Back to the lone gull. It had a broken left leg as well. And not only that, it was kinked out to the side a bit, from the knee down just like mine too! It had no fear of me and came right up to me.
It stayed for about an hour easy, then was off. The next day it came back and we hung out again for awhile. It was so weird the way this bird showed interest in me, and I wonder if the other gulls had told the loner, about the human with a gammy leg the same.
I was a bit miserable at the time watching the surf thinking I won't be able to surf ever again. And this little guys visit cheered me up heaps. We knew how each other felt. I can get forgetful and it made me remember I'm not the only one like this there are a lot more people worse off than I (including animals).
Be happy
