So I've held on to this story for about a year now hoping some explanation would arise. There are some which come close to explaining the phenomena but none that explain it fully.
So just over a year ago I was spending the night at a buddy's house in Scottsdale, Arizona. (Near Phoenix). Now during this time I was beginning to explore spirituality and some of the more "New Age" belief systems. My buddy (we'll call him Ted) was a very devout Christian. Now we had discussed different aspects of spirituality in the past, but on this specific night the topic of discussion was God.
After about thirty minutes of going back and forth on our understanding (or lack thereof) of the divine, I stood up and walked out into the backyard to look up at the stars. I can recall to this day the distant hum of cars and the sounds of birds and crickets chirping. Ted followed me outside and suddenly I felt an overwhelming desire to close my eyes. Just as I did so a deep rumbling began to sound out from all around me. It sounded like thunder coming from every direction. I felt this sound in my bones it was so loud. And just as soon as it started, it stopped. The freaky part though was that it sounded as though we had been sucked into a vacuum. There was no birds or crickets chirping and the sounds of cars were long gone.
At this point Ted freaks out and I open my eyes. We had experienced the exact same thing. There was a sense of total serenity and peace that filled me for a couple days following this event.
Now I have done my research and seen plenty of explanations such as stratospheric jet streams, or project blue beam sound tests. I choose to believe it was God showing that neither of us had any idea what we were talking about. To this day I have only met 1 other person with a similar experience to mine.
Any thoughts and ideas about this would be greatly appreciated. If you have had a similar experience please feel free to share in the comments.
Thanks!
All animals, insects, noise of ANY kind suddenly and inexplicably stops as if you've suddenly lost your hearing. A vacuum or void of noise is sudden and striking. Anyhow, I'm not saying that is what you experienced, but there are similarities worthy of consideration.
