I'm pretty sure we have all heard about either one of these, and have seen movies about them, looked it up on the internet, etc. I'm 15 years old, and one of my biggest interests is what goes on during our sleeping hours. Before I even saw any movies, or had any experiences, I always took an interest in it. I know you all think I'm only 15 and I don't know what I'm talking about, but I have been doing non-stop research at school and at home, whenever I get the chance.
It all started one night, I was laying on my back falling asleep. I started dozing off, but in the back of my head, I knew I was somewhat still awake. My eyes were closed, and in the back of my mind I could hear a woman repeating something to me, over and over. Her voice was getting louder and louder. I couldn't make out what she was saying, but she was demanding something. But there was also this noise to, like a pounding noise that was getting faster and louder. At the point where it was getting very loud and almost giving me a headache, I felt that something wasn't right so I tried to move... But I couldn't. I was paralyzed. I knew it wasn't a dream because I have the ability to wake myself up while dreaming, and I knew I wasn't fully asleep. I tried everything I could to simply open my eyes or move a muscle just a tad. But it wasn't working. Finally after a few seconds I used all my strength to roll over and I did and made a really loud gasping noise. Everything around me was still, and quiet.
A few days later I was talking to one of my sisters and she told me how she gets sleep paralysis a lot. She's 25, and has been having it since she was 16. Her story is that she'll think she's asleep, open her eyes and everything will be naturally normal (real life), but she's paralyzed. and can't move. She usually sees a dark tall man figure in the room. They say that when this happens, people usually see a tall dark man figure or an old person (usually old woman). You see everything normal, but see something like that because your mind is half asleep and half awake.
A few weeks later I saw the movie Insidious, one of my favorite movies. That's when I started doing serious research. I took interest in dreams and stuff before hand but this is when I got attached. My mother told me how my dad, who has passed away years ago, and one of my uncles would be able to astral project a lot. My uncle would be able to prove it in weird ways, since my mom didn't believe it.
My mom says it's something she feels that people shouldn't mess with but she doesn't fully straight-up dislike it. People try and try to do it, most people do it without even trying. You have to know everything about it to be able to get what you want out of it while doing it safely if you ATTEMPT it, without naturally being able to do it. Yes, I have tried it, but I'm being as patient as possible because I want to have full knowledge on it, and I know it's not going to happen right away. I know it may be easier for me because of my family naturally having it. Theory is that everyone astral travels, we all just don't know it or remember it.
I have attempted it a few times, but more just practicing relaxation and meditation. On Thanksgiving this year, I was trying it out and I could feel myself dosing off. One sign that you are detaching from your body is that you can feel vibrations and/or voices. I felt both. I could actually feel it happening, and then I awoke for some reason.
I have taken a little break from attempting it, and studying more of the dangers of it. Some say they've encountered no dangers, and some say they have. Some people talk about paranormal activity occurring around them. I still always contemplate in my mind if that scares me, because I've taken interest in that too, but I'm not sure if I could handle seeing full-out figures. I feel like I can, because I've had small encounters with spirits I believe, I'm not quite sure though. I've had a lot of weird things happen to me while trying to sleep when I was little. I would start to hyperventilate and sweat because I was so scared. I could feel things touching my legs, or my head, or arms, like a hand gently and slowly resting on me. It always frightened me. I'd hear whispering noises in my ears like crazy sometimes. I can sometimes hear loud footsteps in my kitchen at night, or someone walking up the basement stairs or knocking on the basement door while going to the bathroom. (Basement door is in one of my bathrooms.) A lot of people in my family have experienced hearing things, but not as much seeing things. My mom and siblings know this stuff happens, but don't really talk about it because we don't want to scare each other. I'm not sure what they have all seen or heard, but I hope I find all that out.
I would really love to go on about all the stories that have happened like that, but there'd be a lot to talk about. I hope everything in your life is peaceful, and you will be hearing more from me. Thank you.
